Can Pictures Talk? Sure They Can With Living Photo (aka We Love Steve)

Living-Photo-Logo-FINAL Living Photo [iTunes], by Conspiracy Entertainment (cool logo – do want t-shirt), is a photography / entertainment app which makes your images ALIVE. Yup, just like the name implies … your photos become animated with blinking eyes and a moving mouth. “Moving mouth” is the fun part as Living Photo enables the user to record and embed a custom audio message. Let your imagination run wild! Think talking cows, singing babies, burping pancakes, screaming chickens, etc. Of course you can also go the “traditional” route … Happy Birthday greetings, I Love You notes, Sorry I Suck apologies, Mother’s Day wishes (flowers suck and eventually end up in the trash … send a Living Photo instead) and more. Once your masterpiece is complete, you can share your utter perfect nonsense via email or upload to YouTube directly within the Living Photo app. It’s simple to use, awesome and provides loads of entertainment … all for only 99 cents. But since KRAPPS is not your traditional iPhone site, we’ll take the path less traveled … let’s make our hero, Steve Jobs, come to life!

Step 1
Launch app (duh) and select the “Tools/Gears” button from the toolbar. Select “New” from the Tools menu and touch “Yes” on the popup message. To upload an image into Living Photo … choose “Photo From Camera” to take a picture from within the app … “Photo From Library” to select a picture from your Camera Roll … or “Load Living Photo” to retrieve a previous stored project.

Step 2
Once your image loads, select the “Smiley Face” button. This will activate the face template where you can scale and move the eyes and mouth targets. Place these three targets over the appropriate area of the image. The eye targets will eventually blink, while the mouth target will talk.

Flair is cool … so add some to your picture. Select the “Flair” button and choose from 40 different options …stars, flowers, glasses, facial hair, earrings and more. In our “Steve Comes To Life” example … guess we could’ve chosen the halo flair (after all, he is our savior), but ultimately decided to choose the “hearts of love” option (although we were tempted by the horny devil selection … LOL).

Step 4
Adding a custom audio message is a breeze. Select the “Microphone” button … then the “Record” button … and begin recording up to 60 seconds. Select “Done” and you are done recording (duh).

Finally, click the “Play” button on the far right of the toolbar to enter the preview screen. If all good … select the “Tools/Gears” button where you can save, email or upload your living photo to YouTube.

Crazy Letters App Fittingly Developed By A Crazy Dev

perfectionist We have this friend named Mike (yes, that’s his real name) … Mike has issues. He’s the guy who’ll notice if a picture hanging in his house is slightly crooked and just has to straighten it immediately. He’s the guy who organizes his CD collection by genre, then record label, then producer, then alphabetical, then release date, then SKU. He’s the guy who barely passed Writing Composition because he could never quite start off writing his term paper correctly. Mike characterizes his behavior as being a perfectionist … we think he’s simply a freak.

However, his “Freak” is our “Gain”. You see Mike is also a talented app developer … and of course, being the freak … errr … perfectionist he is, no way is Mike going to release some piece of krapp. Nope … when Mike releases an app, he makes sure his development behavior is 110% over-the-top.

Take for example his latest app … Nabbed [iTunes] … right from the get go, he didn’t think the name was perfect enough, so he changed it to Crazy Letters. The Crazy Letters app enables you to apply letters, numbers and punctuation to any image in your iPhone’s camera roll or from taking a picture within the app … thus creating a custom caption.

There are over 500 characters to choose from. The characters are ransom note-style … meaning cut outs from magazines, each with a unique color, style and font. Ok … so most normal people would simply purchase a ransom note font package and program it into the app. But not our friend Mike. Poor bastard sat there for months … hand cutting letters, numbers and punctuation from countless stacks of magazines … putting them in piles … the A’s, the B’s, the C’s, etc … then scanned and Photoshopped each one into digital files. Seriously, who does this kind of stuff … total freak.

But like we said, his “Freak” is our “Gain” … because the final product of Crazy Letters is absolutely superb. The user interface is simple and intuitive, the processing is fast and smooth … and of course the hand cut graphics are outstanding. You can position each word anywhere with a touch of a finger, change the style of letters by simply shaking your phone, save to camera roll, email to friends or upload directly to Flickr. The possibilities with Crazy Letters are endless … and for only 99 cents, provides hours or repeat entertainment.

Sure enough, Mike is already freaking out about Crazy Letters … thinks it needs improvements … so he’s submitted an update for approval which will give pinch to scale ability. Yeah, that and he’s still cutting out letters from magazines by hand … LOL – poor dude has no life. Help this psycho out and purchase Crazy Letters … maybe we can get him enough bank where he will finally put down the scissors before he hurts himself.

The Science Of Sex

HotChickMeterSCORE So there is this whole sub-category of KRAPPS that supposedly measure and detect things … Meter and Radar apps. Like the Douchemeter and Hot Radar apps we previously wrote about. Also stuff like … Hot Chick Meter … Ghost Radar … Love Meter … Pirate Radar … or Cool Meter. Not the most brilliant apps … certainly a novelty and good for about 137 seconds of entertainment.

But in these apps’ defense, they don’t claim to be the second coming of Koi Pond (uh, which is another subject … why is Koi Pond so freaking popular). These apps are pretty whack … but they know it … and don’t pretend to be as important as that Pope2You app (hey, it’s the Pope … that’s gotta be an important app … geez).

Well we came across a Meter app that is breaking the mold of this KRAPPS sub-category. We were actually quite floored at the research involved in producing such an application … it must have took years or clinical trials and various research methodologies to produce this next app … Sexy Meter Pro.

This is not your basic novelty Meter app. With Sexy Meter Pro, you can scientifically determine is your subject is REALLY sexy or not. And since this sexiness is determined scientifically … well then, there you have it … it’s TRUE. We at KRAPPS are simpletons … we don’t understand all this sexy science mumbo jumbo. So rather making a feeble attempt at describing the app and it’s technology … just read the Sexy Meter Pro description (pardon the English as a second language bit):

Oh and trust us, developer Chen Li is NOT kidding about his instrument – he truly believes and knows that Sexy Meter Pro provides valid scientific results (just like OJ knows he didn’t kill his wife – LOL) … heck, dude is working on even better algorithms for his next update. Freaking genius!

But hey … not all devs can be such mensas. So memo to devs – Never Use The Words SEXY and ALGORITHM Together In An App Description … this science is way beyond your comprehension. Unless of course you are kidding – but you’re not – but we think you are -  but your not – you are? – not! ARGH!! … sex and science, what a bunch of KRAPPS … not?
