App Star Awards 2nd Edition
(aka – I Listen To Bands That Don’t Even Exist Yet)

app-star-awards

Never mind the Oscars (da shame, snubbing The Hangover and Zombieland), we have some real awards news. Coming soon is the 2nd edition of the App Star Awards. What’s killer about these awards is that it’s totally unique … one-of-a-kind … different. Unlike other iPhone app awards, App Star Awards discovers and rewards brilliant upcoming apps … apps that don’t even exist yet (or at least not in the App Store). Like we said … totally unique – totally cool. Pay attention to the App Star Awards for valuable insights and previews of upcoming applications that promise to be awesome.

bands

Any app can be included for consideration (just as long as it hasn’t been submitted to Apple by March 26 … and no jailbreak apps). Developers can already begin to pre-register their app(s) … while regular submissions begin March 21.

The App Star Awards 2 is partnering with 360iDev (one of the largest iPhone developer events in the United States) and winners will be announced on stage at the conference (April 12 in San Jose, CA).

This year’s App Star Awards should be way better than last year’s … mainly because we’ll be participating in the event – HA! Yeah, we’ll be part of the judging crew … checking out the 30 “final round” apps (which don’t even exist yet) and voting for our three faves … top three vote getters will be declared the winners.

Anyways … we’re totally stoked to be part of the App Star Awards festivities and looking forward to checking out some kick ass apps. Stay tuned to KRAPPS for App Star Awards updates … and for complete details, see the event’s site at http://appsfire.com/appstar2/ .

Evolution Of The iPhone
Since its first computer, the Apple I, went on sale in July 1976 (price of $666.66), Apple has consistently put out products that raise the bar for the computer and telecommunications industry. A few highlights include the first Macintosh released in 1984, iMac in 1998, the iPod in 2001, iPhone in 2007 and of course the upcoming iPad in 2010.

So what’s next for Apple? Well the clever folks at Be Geek seem to have it figured out through 2014. After that, it’s anyone’s guess … iCar, iHouse, iPlanet, iGalaxy?

No offense ladies, but this is what happens when you foolishly employ an all-female R&D team … the Pee Without Noise Stool. Designed to eliminate urination noise and splash in one fair swoop … and as an added bonus … eliminate your manhood as well. Kneeling and peeing … yes, this totally makes sense, but you still have the problem of remembering to put the toilet seat down for your honey. Back to the drawing board ladies!

Free iPhone Apps @ Free App A Day
We love a great deal and if you follow us on Twitter, you know we dig informing our followers about paid iPhone apps that have gone free. One of our followers has a running count on the number of apps she downloaded for free due to our tweets … 258 apps … dang, great savings!

285-apps

These free apps are typically for a limited amount of time (usually 24 hours) … so you have to jump on them fast. Now obviously there’s a lot of crap that goes free, but we don’t tweet those … no sense in wasting anyone’s time.

A great resource for finding quality free apps is a new site called FreeAppaDay.com … just like it sounds … working with developers, every day these guys post an app that is free for 24 hours. The beauty of FreeAppaDay is the review process. Before an app is featured on the site, it must be approved, thus ensuring quality apps (usually having at least 20 reviews and a 3 star rating). For example, today’s free app is Navy Patrol Coastal Defense … a kick ass tower defense game that is normally $4.99 … SWEEEET!

freeappaday

So be sure to check out FreeAppaDay … every day. And if you have trouble remembering things, they have a nifty opt-in reminder email so you’ll never miss any of their killer deals.

So as we implied above, this was a big week for feminine hygiene, courtesy of Apple’s new revolutionary product … iPad. The Internet has been flowing with iPad/iTampon jokes. So for a breath of fresh air, we present a couple of iPad items … totally unrelated to a woman’s menstrual cycle.

From Metin Seven at Sevens Heaven … his original “iPhad” illustration demonstrates just how easy it is to turn your iPhone into a full-fledged iPad … although the iPhone is still more capable as it includes a camera and the ability to make voice calls.

And from the Funny or Die website, comedian Peter Serafinowicz (yes that’s a long last name – 12 letters) introduces the really really really revolutionary iPad.
